Parasitic Infections

Pubic Lice ("Crabs")

Symptoms of pubic lice include itchy skin or inflammation of the affected area, black powder (lice droppings) in underwear and, occasionally, visible lice and brown eggs with sky-blue spots, Although pubic lice do not cause any serious long-term health problems, it is simple to get rid of them through special shampoos, creams or lotions which kill the lice and their eggs.
Sex and all close contact should be avoided until treatment has been completed.

Scabies

This common skin infection is caused by a tiny mite invisible to the naked eye. Scabies isn't always considered a sexual health issue as it can occur anywhere on the body, and can be caught from non sexual contact. However, as the signs are sometimes hard to see, Scabies can be easily misjudged as being some other allergy or rash.

The symptoms are highly annoying and include intense itching (especially at night), a rash and tiny spots. Scabies does not cause any long-term health problems and treatment is simple with the application of a special cream and lotions. Any close personal contact should be avoided until the infection has cleared up.
