NHS Health Check

An NHS Health Check helps identify patients who are at risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, kidney disease or certain types of dementia. Patients who have not already been diagnosed with one these of these conditions are eligible for a free of charge NHS Health Check if they are between the ages of 40 and 74. During the check, in a private consultation room, you will be asked a few simple lifestyle questions as well as have your blood pressure, cholesterol and body mass index (BMI) measured.

Chlamydia Screening & Treatment

If you have had unprotected sex you may be at risk of having contracted chlamydia. Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) which is normally symptom free, so you are unlikely to know that you have it. We offer a service which will provide you with information on STIs, advice on safe sex and a testing kit which allows you to take a sample at home to send to a laboratory to be tested for chlamydia. If you test positive you can then return to our pharmacy where we can provide you with medication to treat the infection.

Emergency Contraception Service

If you have recently had sex without using contraception, or you think that the contraception you did use might have failed, you may want to find out more about emergency contraception. If you act quickly (within 72 hours) emergency contraception can usually stop you getting pregnant. Our Pharmacist will just need to ask you some brief questions to check your suitability before you receive your emergency contraception and to check that you have got all the support you need. We'll also explain your next steps. (Do not worry, this consultation is free and confidential.)
